Frustrated with my old habits wanting to come back
Wow. Still dealing with old issues. Husband asked today if I miss anything now...ya, I said. I miss being able to gorge on my favorite foods...but how sick is that? I had a huge body because of that mentality!
Needing something in the mouth...why? Why do I want to have things in my friggin mouth?!!!!!

I have been fighting those demons lately too, and it scares the hell out of me!! Over the weekend, at the cabin, I felt like I was grazing ALL DAMN DAY! Thankfully - I grazed on nuts, and raisins - and pushed my water to the limits!!
Call me, we can go walking! I NEED to get out and walk more. There is a spot open for Wednesday nigh****er aerobics if you want to join me!

A lifetime of keeping our pie holes busy doesn't get erased by having WLS. Old habits die hard. The trick is to find ways to either distract yourself from that craving, or find WLS-friendly things to satisfy it.
Gum is one. I find I like sunflower seeds. There is protein, and salt (which I have always prefered when snacking), and you can't just stuff yourself full of them - they are tedious little buggars! So your mouth has something to do, and you satisfy that craving. Just one suggestion...

Imperfect does not = unsuccessful
I do that, too. Grazing. I'm okay all day at work and when I first get home cuz I'm busy, but then watching t.v. or being on the computer, I want to be chewing on something. Gum doesn't help. Sometimes I suck on a tootsie roll but that doesn't cut it either. Old habits don't die -- hard or not. I quit smoking a couple years ago and still have to fight the urge. I guess its going to be the same with food. :(
